Indochino Showrooms: Now opening in malls

Monday, August 1, 2016

Indochino is putting a lot of steam behind their retail strategy. It appears retail locations are working out very well for them to compliment the online business. It makes sense: Many customers like to go and touch the fabric, talk to someone in person, have the security of being measured by someone who knows what he or she is doing and to have someone to go back to in case of problems. Later purchases can easily be made online, as your measurement profile is stored with your Indochino account.

Indochino is now opening stores in malls, and there are currently two locations in Canada. One in  Mississauga's Square One Shopping Centre, another one just very recently opened in Toronto's Yorkdale Shopping Centre. More Canadian mall locations are to follow, and also international expansion plans exist for up to 150 more stores. The mall developments are part of Indochino's big growth plan following the $30 million investment of Chinese Dayang Group back in March 2016.
Dean Handspiker, Senior Director of Retail at Indochino, said: "Interestingly, our current showrooms are primarily appointment based but, with Square One first, and now Yorkdale, we’re seeing nearly half of our sales come from from passersby who walk in completely new to the brand". He went on to say, " Shopping Centres are now recognizing the uniqueness of our approach, that we are part of the next generation of retail, and thus a desirable tenant offering a point of differentiation in the market." via Retail Insider
